"You can't know where you're going unless you know where you are."
It's funny, because as I was writing this section, I checked Google to see if I could find out where this quote comes from. I wasn't able to find a source, but what I did notice is that this phrase shows up primarily on bookkeeping and accounting sites.
Those guys are really into assessing, tallying and measuring. And that's exactly what you need to do to get started in the MASTER program. You've got to get completely honest with yourself about where you are right now: physically, emotionally and mentally.
This is a scary prospect for all of us - that's why I'm going to give you the tools to do this in the privacy of your own home.
One of the keys to freeing yourself from back pain is having a clear picture of where you are now. Once you clarify your starting point, you can more easily develop a vision of your path. Without a starting point, your path is unclear and your chances of success are minimal.
Below you'll find a free self-assessment guide that will help you determine what affect back pain has had on all areas of your life. Download your copy now and find out where.
In order to design a comprehensive program that's uniquely yours, we will work together to perform an evaluation of you.
We'll be assessing things like:
Once you've completed your self-assessment, you'll be able to move forward with the MASTER program knowing that the actions you take are contributing to your future success.
Remember that the more honest you are with yourself on your assessment, the more likely you are to reach your goals, and the better equipped your health coaches will be to give you accurate guidance.
We'll give you a list of assessment strategies that you can use right away to find out where you stand. You can come back to this list every 4 weeks to measure your progress and log them in the "Results" planner.
How does the assessment work?
Here's a sneak peak: Part of your assessment includes a health history questionnaire, which asks questions about your movement and daily habits. We'll ask you for the most painfully aggravating position or activity that you can think of, and we'll use that as a starting point.
You answer might be "walking". Next, you'll be asked a series of questions about the length of time you walk - How long can you walk with "tolerable pain"? How long until you have to stop? How long does the pain take to return to baseline (or resolution)? Stuff like that.
We will also ask how you feel and think when pain limits your daily activities.
You'll document your answers and return to these questions every 4 weeks to measure your progress. Keep in mind that if you're not making progress, you'll come back to the assessment so that you can make the necessary adjustments to your program.
That's just one part of the assessment.
Measuring and tracking your progress will inspire you, motivate you and help you move to the next step on your path to a healthy, pain free back.
How will you feel 30 days from now when you look back at your past self and see how far you've come?
